SSS Class Infinite Regression: Ascension of the Mad Dragon Prince

Chapter 281: Our Happily Ever After

Chapter 281: Our Happily Ever After

-----

Louis slowly opened his eyes.

"Ah!"

He gasped in disbelief and coughed, glancing around. He found himself somewhere familiar.

"What?"

He realized he was back home. It was his room.

And this was no dream. He quickly tested it. His powers were not as strong as before, but they were still there.

"I have lost it... the Heart of Time."

He gasped, coughed once more, and drank some water, sighing as he realized it was only a dry throat.

"The source of my regression is gone. I cannot regress anymore if I die. But where am I? Is this really... my home?"

Louis slowly walked toward the glass window and noticed the Kingdom of Frostbane.

Vast grasslands extended where there had once been wasteland. A bright blue sky stretched overhead, and the sun shone warmly today as well.

There were floating islands, and the city was now three times larger.

"Is this... It is not the Realm. It is Earth!"

He ran outside excitedly and found Catrise, his maid, along with everyone else.

"My lord! Y-You are awake!"

"You are awake!!!"

"Everyone, he has awakened!"

"Call the Queen! The King! Lady Mirai! Everyone!"

In disbelief, Louis stood there as he saw his servants. Then he ran and hugged each one of them with tears in his eyes.

"I am so glad you are all alive!" Louis cried, tears of joy and regret streaming down his face.

"Lord Louis..." Catrise muttered. "But of course. You saved us!"

"I... I did?" Louis was shocked. He smiled and nodded. "I suppose I did? Wait! Catrise, where is Mirai?! Is she alive?"

"She is," Catrise nodded. "Well, why do we not go see her?"

Louis walked excitedly across the castle, greeting familiar faces and hugging everyone. Once he found members of House Frostbane, he hugged them happily.

"Lord Louis?!" Timothy gasped.

"Timothy!" Louis cried, hugging him and kissing his forehead.

"I am glad you are alive but do not kiss me, ew!" Timothy cried.

"Lord Louis!" Zorba said, crying as Louis hugged him back and kissed his head, happy to see his brother once more.

"Zorba! You are alive! I am so happy, my brother," said Louis.

"Yes, we made it!" Zorba nodded. "But you have been in a coma for ten years...!"

"T-Ten years?!" Louis asked.

"Lord Louis! You are awake— Gyaaa!" Agustina cried in embarrassment as Louis hugged her and lifted her small body. "My lord!"

"I am so happy to see you too!"

Anastasia, Melisa, Selene—everyone was hugged and greeted in a way Louis would never have done before. He had completely changed.

After experiencing so much, he was simply happy that they were here, all those he loved.

"Son?"

"Son!"

Until, once he reached the throne room, his parents greeted him happily, running to hug him.

While being hugged and kissed, they told him what had happened since Oblivion's death.

"It was all too shocking, but our entire Cosmos transformed and was reborn," said Benladra. "It became a Fantasy Universe or something... that is what dad said."

"Oblivion is completely gone too," Gustaf sighed in relief. "His presence was erased from time itself when the Heart of Time exploded."

"Right now, all worlds have been separated once more, but there are permanent bridges between each other. We are connected within this cosmos now, not separated by dimensional membranes," said Benladra.

"What happened to Earth though?" Louis asked. "To the Dimensional Labyrinth? Entities? Grievances?"

"They are gone," said Benladra with a smile.

"Earth was saved as you can guess. It has been growing larger now that it is evolving into a Fantasy World though," Gustaf said. "Earth is currently above a vast cosmic expanse, not too far from Yggdrasil!"

"And... the wastelands? The people dying?" Louis asked. "E-Everything? Is not Fantasium toxic?"

"Not anymore," said Benladra. "Thanks to the birth of this new Fantasy Cosmos, the world itself has accepted Fantasy into its very components. People have all evolved to adjust. Nobody has died of Fantasium sickness anymore."

"Well, that is... that is an immense relief," said Louis with a heavy sigh. "Thank god... thank god..."

"And... well, we have been so sad waiting for you to wake up!" said Gustaf. "Mirai woke up two years ago and she has been sad all day! You have to go see her!"

"Where is she?!" Louis asked.

"Outside! She went out with her new friends to the park," said Benladra.

"New friends?" Louis asked.

"Demons," said Gustaf. "A lot of people began moving to the Kingdom... she resonated a lot with some."

"I see..." Louis nodded. "I will go see her."

Louis ran.

And ran.

And ran.

He ran downstairs and into the city.

People greeted him in awe, screaming his name and celebrating his return.

But Louis had no time to greet them. He waved his hand as he ran to the plaza.

"Mirai! MIRAI!"

As he called for her, Mirai was sitting in the plaza, chatting with her two new demon friends. They were two girls wearing high school uniforms.

One was a dark-haired gloomy girl. The other was a bright, red-skinned demon girl full of energy and slightly tomboyish.

"Mirai, wanna come to Spiritias later?"

"There is a Demon School there!"

"Um, I will think about it... I... I am still waiting for someone."

"For who?"

"Wait, him?"

"Yeah... him—"

"Mirai!"

"...!!!"

And at that moment, Mirai stood up in awe, gazing into the distance to find him running toward her.

She remained paralyzed in shock, tears streaming from her eyes.

"L-Louis? LOUIS!"

Mirai ran toward Louis, hugging him tightly as she cried happily, unable to believe he was back here, finally, at long last.

"I am back, Mirai! I am sorry for not being there before..."

"I am so happy you are back! Louis! My Louis!"

Mirai cried happily, hugging Louis while tears never stopped streaming from her face.

After so long.

After so many transmigrations and so much suffering.

They were finally back together.

They held hands and kissed.

"Mirai..." Louis said. "I love you... let us get married!"

"E-Eh?!" Mirai gasped, realizing what Louis wanted. "W-Wait! I am not ready yet!"

"Not ready?" Louis gasped.

"I need to get ready! Do makeup, find a dress..." she muttered.

"Hahahaa!" Louis laughed heartily. "I know that, not right now! I mean, in the coming days? Weeks? Months? Let us plan our wedding. I want... I want to marry you."

Mirai blushed, nodding with a bright smile and kissing Louis on the lips. "Of course!"

As they held hands and walked back to the castle, Mirai waved her hand at her demon friends, who were left completely speechless that their friend had a prince charming as her boyfriend.

Time passed quickly since then, and after two months of preparations, Mirai and Louis's wedding came. Their families and friends from all over the worlds gathered, and Benladra, as the head of the church, decided to perform their wedding.

"And you, Mirai, wish to remain forever with Louis in sickness and in health, until death do you part?" asked Benladra.

"Yes, I do!"

"And my son Louis, do you...?"

"Yes I do!"

Louis did not even let his mother finish. He kissed Mirai deeply and made her panic, but then she went with the flow.

People celebrated, screaming and crying.

"OOOOHHHHH!"

Gustaf was crying while cleaning his snout and tears, and the Dragon King, Drake, and the Summoner King, Blake, glanced with a nod at Louis, who walked with Mirai toward the wedding party.

Bright flowers fluttered and the people laughed and celebrated, drinking and smiling, conversing and chatting, now without having to worry about a hopeless future.

A world rewritten, with fantasy integrated into it.

Louis and Mirai held hands, gazing at the moonlight from the balcony of their room.

"I want a baby," Mirai declared.

"Eh?" Louis was shocked but nodded. "Well, alright then. Hahaha. We will have one eventually, no need to hurry—"

"Let us start tonight!" Mirai said, grabbing Louis and dragging him into the bed.

"Wait, tonight?!" Louis gasped.

And as both lovers enjoyed their honeymoon, the stars twinkled beautifully above the night sky, as a world stood at peace.

But... for how long?

Nonetheless, they would enjoy the new ending they had written, their happily ever after.

Because they had truly earned this well-deserved rest.

THE END.

Author's Note:

Hello for the few that even bothered to read this novel until the end, thank you for your support. I am very tired after having written the ending and then editing everything, so this will be short.

The novel wasn't resonating too much with me so far, and I didn't want it to continue for too long either, there was also almost zero support, only like 4 people were reading it, so that made me feel even less motivated to make it a long story.

I think I made a good ending, as rushed as it is.

I am working on a sequel where the protagonist is Louis and Mirai's daughter, called Elizabeth. The novel will likely be named "My (Not-so) Laid-Back Life as a Max Level Dragon Princess". Generic, yeah, but that's what brings the clicks to this brain-rotted market. You can check some of the chapters ahead of publication in my patreon, which you can find in my profile.

Well, still, I'm glad I completed the novel instead of dropping it like most authors. Even if rushed, I like giving proper finales to my stories.

Thank you anyway and see you in the next story!
