Chapter 421 - 420: Meeting His Parents
Bella stood on tiptoe and gave him a kiss on the corner of his mouth, then said, "But I can’t go empty-handed, I still need to bring a gift."
"Yes. My dad likes to brew tea, and my mom likes flowers," Damian said. "I have a set of tea wares from The Quen Era. You can buy a bouquet and bring them along."
For a family like The Sinclairs, there’s nothing they don’t have. When giving gifts, you really have to cater to their tastes. The most important thing is whether the person going over is likable.
The two stayed in the office for a while longer before driving back to the apartment.
The next morning, they got ready, drove to the florist, bought a large bouquet of lilies, then went to Damian’s other villa to get the tea set from The Quen Era, and hurried to The Sinclair Family’s old house.
The Sinclair Family’s old house is located in the suburbs of Creston, surrounded by a newly developed area of standalone private villas. The environment is excellent and peaceful.
As soon as the car stopped at the villa entrance, a driver came over to take the car to the garage.
Bella stood at the door holding flowers, still a bit nervous.
Damian, holding the box with the tea set, took her hand and said, "The old man’s not here. My parents are easygoing. Don’t be nervous."
"Okay." Bella took a deep breath and saw a middle-aged woman dressed in a qipao with a shawl draped over her shoulders come out of the villa.
The middle-aged woman was well-maintained, with beautiful looks and excellent temperament. It was clear that much of Damian and Bella’s appearance was inherited from her.
Mrs. Sinclair walked up smiling warmly and enthusiastically, her smile deepening when she saw Bella, "Bella, you’re here. Are you cold? Come in, come in."
So enthusiastic.
Bella marveled inside, and her nervousness eased a lot. She smiled and greeted, "Hello, Auntie."
"Hello, hello, you child, how can you not make sure Bella is dressed warmly in this cold weather? What if she catches a cold? You have no care for others!" Mrs. Sinclair took Bella’s hand warmly and, feeling it a bit cold, turned to scold Damian.
Damian felt helpless, thinking Bella insisted on looking nice for the first meeting with her future mother-in-law and refused to wear anything thick and bulky. What could he do?
Besides, Ms. Sinclair herself was wearing only a qipao, with a slit at the side. How could she blame someone else for dressing thinly?
Bella quickly said, "Auntie, it’s not Damian’s fault. It’s... it’s my own choice."
"I know, you want to look pretty." Mrs. Sinclair didn’t care at all about her double standards and happily said, "Bella, don’t you think Auntie looks pretty dressed like this?"
"Yes, yes, very pretty." Bella nodded sincerely, "Auntie looks really good."
Mrs. Sinclair, smiling, affectionately linked her arm with Bella’s and said, "Such a sweet talker. Come on, let’s go inside."
Bella breathed a sigh of relief and smiled at Damian beside her. The Sinclairs were very easy to get along with, indeed.
The three entered the house, and Mrs. Sinclair took Bella to sit on the sofa in the living room while the servant brought in hot tea and arranged the flowers.
Damian put down the tea set and asked, "Mom, where’s Dad?"
"In the study. You go find him. He happens to need to talk to you," Mrs. Sinclair said with a smile.
"Okay." Damian nodded and said to Bella, "Stay with Mom; I’ll go up and see."
"Alright." Bella nodded, blushing, wondering what he meant by ’stay with Mom’. They weren’t even married yet; how could he casually refer to her as mom?
Damian went upstairs to find Mr. Sinclair. Meanwhile, Mrs. Sinclair chatted with Bella for a while in the living room and suddenly noticed the necklace that slipped out from Bella’s neck, and with a smile said, "Bella, your necklace is really beautiful."
