Chapter 557 - 432: Forced to Set Up a Stall! (2)
"Oh, it’s nothing much. Your night business hours are too short, and everyone couldn’t get a taste, so they organized to find you, and then..."
Chen Mo really didn’t know what to say.
What he didn’t know was that these customers came to find him with a bit of resentment. After all, they were all foodies, and even more so, big foodies.
A large portion of them had joined the running group at night. After running hard for over two hours, they hadn’t eaten a thing. Who wouldn’t be frustrated?
Chen Mo looked around and felt that the surrounding crowd was growing larger.
Some people were about to drive away but upon seeing so many people, inexplicably joined in to join the fun.
This wasn’t a viable solution.
Chen Mo thought it was just extending the business hours a little longer anyway; he could make money and earn Experience Value.
But now the ingredients were limited, and gathering so many people suddenly in the parking lot would probably soon attract the attention of the administrators, which would also be troublesome.
Chen Mo leaned out halfway and stared at Chen Dingjun, "Do you know any nearby place that’s quieter? Preferably where there aren’t many people, so we can move somewhere else."
Chen Dingjun thought for a moment, "I do know! There’s an old abandoned baseball field nearby. No one will be there at night!"
Chen Mo couldn’t worry about that for now; the priority was to safely get all these people out of the parking lot.
"Alright, you lead the way!"
Chen Dingjun looked at Chen Mo in confusion, "Run over there?"
"What else? Can I possibly fit all of you into my car?"
Chen Dingjun chuckled foolishly, suddenly feeling a tinge of regret. If he had known Boss Xiao Chen would agree so quickly, he wouldn’t have called everyone over.
But it didn’t matter.
He stood back on a trash can, waved his arms to quiet everyone down quickly, revealed his identity, and then said, "The air here isn’t great. Boss Xiao Chen decided to set up shop at the nearby baseball field. Everyone, let’s make a move! I’ll share the location in the group, let’s go together."
As he finished speaking, Chen Mo had already set up the food truck’s hitch and climbed into the driver’s seat.
The crowd obediently made way, and Chen Mo sighed as he slowly started to drive out.
After paying the fee, he slowly drove down the street. In the rearview mirror, he could see the young people pouring out of the parking lot, already stopping taxis by the roadside.
Some even rented shared bikes parked by the curb.
Chen Mo stopped briefly by the roadside, waiting for Chen Dingjun to catch up and jump into the passenger seat before continuing to drive.
"Lead the way then."
"Okay, okay!"
Chen Dingjun was full of excitement, eyes locked on the road ahead, pointing to one side as they approached a junction, "Left turn!"
In reality, Chen Mo wasn’t driving at all, the system was automatically controlling the car. He really felt speechless at that moment.
"But I don’t have much in terms of ingredients. There are just too many people and not enough food."
Chen Dingjun turned his head, clearly not expecting Boss Xiao Chen to say that, but as a chef in a grand restaurant, ingredients were no issue for him.
Chen Dingjun held his phone, "What ingredients do you need?"
Chen Mo handed over the list of ingredients he had planned for dishes from his pocket, "Just what’s on here."
Seeing the list, Chen Dingjun found it odd.
He didn’t recall seeing tofu or squid in the oyster omelet that was made earlier?
But he didn’t ask further, finding a familiar supplier from his contacts on the phone. As someone in his position, ordering a batch of ingredients was a matter of minutes.
Chen Dingjun hung up the call, turning to Chen Mo with a confident smile, "All set! Ingredients will arrive at the baseball field within twenty minutes."
Chen Mo nodded, focusing on driving the food truck. In the rearview mirror, he saw a "chase army" of taxis, motorcycles, and bicycles following in grand fashion.
"Uhm..." Chen Dingjun rubbed his hands, hesitating.
"Just say it." Chen Mo glanced at him.
"To be honest, I’m a chef at Yuan Shan Restaurant. I followed you after seeing the fish roe sausage and cart noodles you made on the livestream, and I was hoping...," he hesitated, "could I lend you a hand later?"
When a chef volunteers to assist another, it indicates they wish to learn from them.
Chen Mo understood, though he neither accepted nor declined. He was somewhat surprised that this person who didn’t look fat at all was actually a professional chef.
After a moment, he said, "We’ll see later."
At that moment, the vehicle entered a vast open area—a baseball field abandoned for years, with bleacher seats covered in dust, but the central area was relatively flat.
"This is it!" Chen Dingjun excitedly pointed to a corner of the field, "No one will come here at night, but there’s no power source, it’s a bit dark."
Chen Mo parked the car; the lack of power was unimportant since his vehicle had its own supply.
He raised and turned on a solar lamp attached to the truck, and the area within dozens of meters of the food truck immediately lit up.
By then, the first batch of "pursuers" had arrived on motorcycles. Xiaoxia rushed over first, panting heavily with hands on her knees, "Brother Fatty... the others... are behind..."
Chen Mo glanced over but couldn’t be bothered with them. He returned to the food truck to start preparing ingredients for setting up his stall.
He felt a bit sentimental inside.
