Chapter 472 - 474: A Double Harvest in Career and Love
Luke Lowell’s gasp of admiration came from behind. "Winning an award your first time at a ceremony... Nina, your talent is really..."
"But then again, I remember you pulled so many all-nighters studying the script. You deserve this..."
In the livestream chat, Nina Kenway’s fans were also cheering uncontrollably.
[Best Supporting Actress! Congratulations, Nina!!]
[Who would dare call our Nina just a pretty face now?!]
[This is so well-deserved. So many of Nina Kenway’s scenes from the movie have been used as case studies at the Veridia Film Academy.]
...
The Best Director and Best Screenwriter awards unsurprisingly went to Anson Colt, a titan of the entertainment industry. When presenting the awards, the two presenters bowed slightly, showing extreme respect. Their status in the industry was far beneath Anson Colt’s; in fact, his status and seniority in the entertainment world were already unsurpassed. Even though the presenters were highly respected veteran artists themselves, they were still palpably nervous giving Anson Colt his awards.
After the Best Actor award was announced, it was time for the final, most anticipated award of the night. The host announced the nominees:
"Noelle Raines for *One Month*, Lynn Coleman for *Mist, Not Mist*, Leanne King for *Falling in Love with a City*, and Nina Kenway for *The Search*..."
The large screen began to play clips of the nominees’ outstanding performances in their respective films.
Nina Kenway’s heart was in her throat again, an indescribable sense of panic rising within her.
Ethan Shaw’s concerned voice came from beside her. "Don’t be nervous. Listen to me. Breathe in... breathe out..."
After a few deep breaths, Nina Kenway did indeed feel her tense nerves begin to relax.
The host smiled. "And the Golden Rooster Award for Best Actress goes to..."
She paused deliberately, building the suspense.
"Nina Kenway for *The Search*! Congratulations! Congratulations to our new Best Actress! In *The Search*, Nina Kenway plays a heroic mother who spends over a decade searching alone for her abducted daughter..."
Nina Kenway couldn’t hear the rest of the host’s words. The phrase "The Best Actress is Nina Kenway" just kept echoing in her mind. She froze on the spot, unsure how to react. It was as if the massive surprise had hit her over the head, leaving her completely bewildered.
Before the ceremony, many people had told her she had a very good chance of winning "Best Actress." Even so, she hadn’t dared to get her hopes up. She was up against countless talented actresses, and she truly hadn’t expected this...
Seeing that Nina Kenway wasn’t moving, the host couldn’t help but laugh and prompt her again. "Ms. Kenway, Ms. Kenway, are you too happy to move? Come on up! Let’s have Ms. Nina Kenway come to the stage to accept her award!"
The applause from all around grew more fervent. Some people were happy for her, some sighed with regret, but most gasped in surprise. Countless people attended these ceremonies only to end up as also-rans. The Golden Rooster Award was the ultimate recognition of an actor’s career, a supreme honor. Just winning one was an incredible achievement. They never imagined Nina Kenway would actually take home two trophies in one night.
"It’s me... It’s really me..."
Ethan Shaw looked into her eyes, gently brushed the hair from her forehead, and said with a smile, "Yes, it’s you. It’s really you. You heard correctly."
Luke Lowell’s astonished voice came from behind them again. "Holy cow, Nina, you’re the real deal! Two trophies in one night... You actually did something I wouldn’t even dare to dream of!"
Luke Lowell was dumbfounded. He added, "Nina, you’d better get up there and accept your award! When you bring the trophy back, let me touch it for good luck. Wow, you’re a Film Queen now! This is amazing, congratulations, Nina!"
Nina Kenway slowly walked onto the stage, seemingly in a daze of overwhelming joy. She didn’t hear a single one of the host’s flattering compliments.
The person presenting the award was, surprisingly, Anson Colt himself. He wore a kind and gratified smile, nodding repeatedly as he said, "Good girl. You really haven’t disappointed me. This trophy is yours. You’ve truly earned it!"
He affirmed.
"Thank you... Godfather..." Nina Kenway accepted the heavy trophy. This symbolized the nation’s highest honor, and it was finally in her hands. She was so moved it felt almost unreal.
’The tragic future from my dreams hasn’t come to pass. I’m living the life I’ve always longed for. Everything is so peaceful and beautiful.’
Her lifelong dream had finally come true. Nina Kenway’s cheeks were flushed with excitement, like a touch of rouge that made her beautiful face even more vibrant.
Standing so high on the stage, Nina Kenway could see all the guests in the audience below.
Her eyes met Ethan Shaw’s, the joy in them impossible to hide.
Down in the audience, Ethan Shaw raised his phone, capturing this special and important moment.
Nina Kenway also saw many familiar faces: friends she had met on variety shows, industry mentors who had greatly helped her career, and...
Nina Kenway’s gaze swept toward the back, and she had to fight the urge to cry. There, in the VIP section, she saw Rose Kenway and Ian. Her mother was dabbing at tears of joy with a handkerchief, her eyes shining with pride.
Ian, cradled in Rose Kenway’s arms, noticed his mother looking at them and immediately began waving his little hands in excitement.
Nina Kenway didn’t know when they had arrived, but being watched over by the people she cared about most at such an important moment filled her with a joy that came from the bottom of her heart.
"I am incredibly honored to receive this award..."
Nina Kenway gently raised the trophy. "To be honest, I’m so thrilled to have the honor of holding this trophy. I’ve imagined this moment countless times, but now that it’s really here, I’m at a loss for words to express my joy... In the future, I will continue to work hard and bring everyone more and better work. Thank you all so much for your support!"
Thunderous applause erupted from the audience.
Holding the trophy, Nina Kenway slowly walked off the stage.
[AHHHHHH CONGRATS NINA! TWO TROPHIES IN ONE NIGHT, HER TALENT IS INSANE!]
[WINNING IN HER CAREER AND IN LOVE! I-I’m so excited I’m stuttering, CONGRATS CONGRATS CONGRATS!!]
[When I saw Nina almost start to cry, I nearly started crying too...]
[*The Search* swept so many major awards tonight, it’s awesome! I recommend everyone watch it, it’s really good, and all the acting is on point!]
[You can’t even hate on this. Anyone who’s seen Nina Kenway’s performance knows she absolutely deserved both of those awards!!]
...
As soon as the awards ceremony ended, Nina Kenway eagerly led Ethan Shaw over to her mother.
"Mom, why didn’t you tell me you and Ian were coming? When I saw you from the stage just now, I almost..."
Rose Kenway smiled dotingly. "How could I miss such an important day? I didn’t tell you because I wanted it to be a surprise. Ethan had arranged for Ian and me to sit in the front row, but I’m not used to all the cameras up there, so I brought Ian to sit back here instead."
