Chapter 469: The Governor?
Chapter 469: The Governor?
"Are you sure you can handle taking over more businesses?" Xue Cong was still worried about the fact that Lin Xuan Qi was doing everything all by himself.
Lin Xuan Qi shrugged and said, "Don’t worry too much. I’m more energetic than I ever was."
He was telling the truth.
Ever since he got to Foundation Establishment Level, his energy was many times more than what he was used to.
He could work throughout the night and not feel fatigued afterwards.
That left him a lot more time to cultivate and be more productive if he wanted to.
Yue Jie and Yue Xin frowned at what he said.
Liu Shi Shi also wasn’t too sure about it.
When he saw their concern for him, he felt happy that they cared but he also knew that this was the best time for expansion for his Lin Clan.
After he pondered on it for a few moments, he explained and said, "The other Clans and Families are either recovering from the damages or even retreating to other places.
"It is now or never if I want to get ahead."
Liu Shi Shi nodded her head to it first.
With what had happened to her family, she knew what it meant if your family didn’t get ahead.
Keeping up and being stagnant meant that you were getting behind.
Yue Jie and Yue Xin also nodded their heads to it.
They remembered how it was when their father was being framed and jailed.
Those who were close to them didn’t answer their call for help.
The only way to make sure that you were safe was to be powerful enough on your own.
Xue Cong didn’t have a similar experience but she knew to support her husband in any way she could.
"Let us know if you ever need help." She said and Lin Xuan Qi held onto her hand to assure her.
It was great for him to have such support from her and the others.
"I will check on the inn and the rice noodles shop and make sure they can operate independently first before I do anything else."
That was something he could do in the meantime since he didn’t have any idea on what business to go into next.
When did spending money get so difficult? He joked silently to himself.
He continued his dinner with Xue Cong and the others keeping food picked for him from the dishes.
And when he was done, he could hardly move after having so much food.
Lin Xuan Qi continued with his cultivation after a short rest in the lab with Lee He Song and Zhi Yong.
After which, he also spent the night dual cultivating with Xue Cong and Yue Jie.
...
Next day.
Lin Xuan Qi woke up, had breakfast and went to the inn after he was done with breakfast.
"Morning, Master Lin." Old Feng greeted him and led him into the dining area when he saw Lin Xuan Qi arrive.
"How is everything?" Lin Xuan Qi asked and Old Feng reported on what he had done so far.
"We have been able to supply the food for the workers as you have instructed.
"The damages have also been repaired as you can see."
He gestured to the portion of the inn that was damaged and Lin Xuan Qi could see that it was as good as new.
His father-in-law, Old Shao, had done a good job on it.
"Well done." Lin Xuan Qi nodded his head at Old Feng in approval for what he had done.
"I’ve also gathered some information like what you’ve asked for."
"Really?" Lin Xuan Qi didn’t expect anything so soon.
"It might not be something that’s too much of a concern but the Governor seemed to have been much more hands-off recently..."
Old Feng said and Lin Xuan Qi took note of it.
Lin Xuan Qi didn’t know if the Governor was waiting for things to be settled before he made his move or whether the Governor had given up on things.
After his interactions with the Governor, he felt that the Governor was somewhat of an idealist and it was possible for the Governor to do the latter.
He wasn’t sure and he didn’t have the time to think too much about it.
"Thanks. Keep up the good work." Lin Xuan Qi said and patted the shoulder of Old Feng.
At least his information gathering network had finally started.
He checked with Old Feng on the food supplies remaining and said, "There will be supplies of rice noodles, rice cakes and rice paper rolls coming in soon.
"Ask the cook to come up with some dishes and get ready when spring comes."
"Yes, Master Lin." Old Feng cupped his hands at him and replied.
Lin Xuan Qi went on to brief the waiters and other workers in the inn on more things before he headed for the rice noodles store next.
Things were going on as usual when he arrived at the rice noodles store.
And he was surprised to see Old Ren there.
"I can’t help but come here and make sure they are doing things correctly." Old Ren apologized with a smile while scratching his head.
Lin Xuan Qi certainly didn’t mind it and said, "Feel free to do so, I should be paying you for it instead."
"Oh no... no need for that... I’m just too used to it."
"Well, if you ever want to come back and work, I’m open to it." Lin Xuan Qi said with a smile.
He had seen men who didn’t know what to do with their lives after they retired, having dedicated all of their lives to their work.
And Old Ren was like one of them.
It was great for him to have Old Ren back, making sure that the rice noodles, rice cakes and rice paper rolls would be produced without any drop in quality.
He wasn’t one to force things, so he would rather let Old Ren make his own decision.
Lin Xuan Qi checked on the production process with Old Ren and he arranged for the delivery of the rice noodles, rice cakes and rice paper rolls to the inn when he was done.
