Chapter 117: Rescue Mission (4)
Chapter 117: Rescue Mission (4)
Elder Mei came back unharmed, while Ancestor Elder had a bleeding wound on her shoulder. She looked at her Inferno Sect disciples, then said.
"Retreat."
Instead of being saddened by their loss, the disciples were relieved. The remaining elders quickly disengaged, including the one that had almost been killed by Song.
Ancestor Elder glanced at the young woman and said. "Congratulations on advancing to the Emperor Stage."
Song gave her a long stare, then nodded. "I appreciate the gesture."
Elder Mei turned to the older woman. "Your sect has lost, and you have to pay for your transgression against my sect. You’ll handle the discussion with your Sect Master, and I will inform mine."
Ancestor Elder’s eyes narrowed. ’She’s confidently claiming that their Sect Master is around. Is it really true? Or she’s bluffing? I guess we can only ask those guys ourselves.’
"In that case, this war has come to an end. When you have your list for the compensation, you can send it over, and we will deliver as soon as possible."
"Is that so? Good." Elder Mei nodded, her white hair fluttering wildly in the wind.
Together with the demoralized Elders and disciples, Ancestor Elder led the Inferno Sect away from the battlefield.
The Soul Cross Sect disciples’ cheers drowned the battlefield as they celebrated their victory.
Elder Mei observed them with a soft gaze, then said in a clear voice.
"Everyone, return to the sect."
The cheers continued as they sauntered back to the sect. Flying in the air, Song searched for Seraph’s figure but couldn’t find him anywhere.
’Where is he?’ Her eyes narrowed worriedly.
Just then, Sera rushed up to her grandmother with a panicked expression. "Granny, Senior Brother Seraph has left the battlefield alone and headed towards the Inferno Sect!"
Hearing this, Song’s heart sank, and Elder Mei’s expression darkened.
"That fool. I was planning to use the compensations to ask those guys to return our disciples but he just had to run off by himself!"
The white-haired Elder was furious, as Seraph’s actions could greatly complicate the situation.
’If they catch him, then we might be forced into a disadvantage during the negotiations.’
Sighing, she said. "Wang, you lead the disciples back to the sect. Song and I have something to attend to."
The Solstice Peak Elder was surprised, but didn’t question her decision. Instead, he smiled and nodded.
Without delay, Elder Mei and Song turned around and flew towards the Inferno Sect.

Still in Ariadne’s room while the Sect Master was searching for them, Seraph decided to buy a few more things from his system.
"This... should work."
He said as a blue stone appeared in his hand.
["A thousand kilometer teleportation stone. It should be enough, but carrying three more people would surely shorten how far it can go."] Halo generously explained.
’By how much?’ Seraph asked inwardly.
["How should I know? I’ve never used it before, and even if I know, I still wouldn’t tell you."]
’As expected of a shitty system. I have every reason to hate you and your creators.’
Beside him, Ariana looked at his face in a daze, then lowered her gaze to the stone in his hand.
"What’s that, Big Brother?"
Seraph glanced at her, then said, "Our chance at escape. We have to be wise about using it.
"I see." She nodded, then looked at her friend.
Tamar had a distracted look in her eyes as she stared at the ground. That made Ariana concerned. What had happened to Tamar?
"It’s alright, Tamar. Big Brother is here to save us now." She said reassuringly while holding her hand.
Seraph, meanwhile, turned to Ariadne who was still sleeping soundly on her bed, unaware that there were three people in her room.
Normally, she would have sensed them and woke up, but with the concealment talisman being used, there was no way she could detect them.
Seraph walked over to her and tapped her shoulder.
"Big Sister Ariadne?"
She shifted in her sleep, then opened her eyes with her brows furrowed. "Hm?"
At first she was confused and alert, but seeing his face, she relaxed. Before she could notice the other two girls in the room, he spoke.
"Ariadne, I want you to listen to what I say for the next one hour. No questions, no hesitation. Can you do that?"
Her eyes narrowed at the change in his tone, and she frowned.
"What are you saying? Although I pity you and see some resemblance of my younger brother in you, you’re still a stranger."
Seraph nodded. "You’re right. I’m a stranger. Even more, I am an enemy from the Soul Cross Sect."
This statement finally caused her eyes to widen. "Y-you...?"
She sprang up from the bed immediately, but Seraph easily restrained her and pinned her hands to the bed.
"I could kill you now if I want, but I am giving you a chance to live. The only reason why you’re still alive is because I see a resemblance of my elder sister in you, and your name is similar to hers."
He said, gesturing at Ariana who waved politely.
Ariadne’s eyes narrowed, and she tried to struggle out of his grip, but it was as if he was an unmoving mountain, keeping her in place.
"You... what exactly do you want?" She asked, her gaze sharp.
Seraph rolled his eyes, the gentle rainbow orbs glittering.
"I don’t know yet, but I know you have what I want."
Hearing this, Ariadne’s face flushed like a flattered maiden, leaving Seraph puzzled. Had he said something wrong?
"... Fine."
The girl turned her head and squeezed out a soft whisper.
Seraph released her, then turned to Ariana and Tamar. "Are you guys ready? Our escape isn’t going to be easy."
Before the girls could answer, Ariadne chipped in. "Wait. Escape? From who?"
Seraph shrugged. "Who else? Your Sect Master, obviously."
Her expression paled, and her eyes widened like saucers. "The... Sect Master? Don’t joke with me. You want to escape from him...?"
Seraph nodded. "I can escape from him, we will escape from him."
"Ugh." She grunted, a conflicted expression on her face.
Inwardly, Seraph thought. ’If she refuses, then I have no choice but to kill her. That should work.’
Ariadne sighed, then ran a hand through her hair. "Sigh, my little brother gets into so much trouble. As the big sister, I should help you ensure your safety."
Seraph blinked in surprise, then smiled. "As expected of you, Big Sister."
The four of them gathered together, then Ariadne spoke.
"I have a secret passage leading to the outer court area. If we use that, we can escape being very close to the Sect Master."
Seraph was surprised. "You have an escape route?"
She shrugged. "It’s simply for emergency. Nothing complicated."
Seraph was greatly pleased. "Alright. Let’s get going."
Ariadne nodded and went to her bed. Pushing it away from its position, she stomped on the ground.
A large hole caved in, large enough to fit four or more people in.
"Let’s go."
They entered into the hole together, then Tamar sealed it up with her element affinity to earth.
As soon as they went underground, the Sect Master’s attention snapped to Ariadne’s house.
’Underground? That spiritual energy is familiar. Did they decide to rob that disciple or something? And why is her own spiritual energy now absent?’
After losing track of Seraph and the two girls at the dungeon, the Sect Master stayed up in the sky and covered the whole sect with his spiritual sense, mapping any unusual movements.
He had noticed Ariadne sleeping in her room. Now that she had suddenly disappeared, he felt something was wrong and fishy.
"Han, you go down that hole and track them."
He said to the man who was flying beside him. Elder Han immediately nodded and flew towards the building. Without even opening the door, he directly tore into the building and slammed into the ground.
To his surprise, there was no hope in the room, which left him puzzled. The ground beneath him was surprisingly solid nothing underneath.
’Ugh. Something fishy.’
Looking at the position of the bed, he sneered and said, "Not clever enough."
Stomping his foot hard on the ground, the floor caved in under his monstrous strength. He continued stomping on the craters until he was dropped into a hole.
Unfortunately for him, he was welcomed by a blade in his heart.
"Keuk!" He gasped in shock, eyes widened like saucers. "This... seriously. What the hell?! Ptui!"
He shouted, causing more blood to flow from his mouth.
Seraph stared at him coldly, pushing his spear deeper.
"It’s pretty easy to predict your Sect Master’s moves. Even if he sensed something suspicious here, he wouldn’t personally descend and would send someone lower than him.
"You’re the sacrificial lamb, old man." Seraph grinned, using the man’s life force to heal his own injuries that had been caused by the Sect Master.
When the man was almost dead, he said to him. "Remember this, anyone who does anything evil to my friends and family, would not live for long."
